If there's a common reaction to the Internet, I'd say it's this: if you like using it, then watch out for addiction. It's so easy to go to one more source of information. Or accept one more invitation to chat from a kindred spirit wishing to make philosophy. Or More. Much More.

A few evenings ago, "Wild" Bill accepted my invitation to stop by and critique my first version of C.A.N.S. Internet Home Page. Although "Wild" Bill had never been on line before, he quickly connected with like-minded individuals. Within minutes he located someone willing to supply for this issue of C.A.N.S. News the striking image printed on this page.

It's tempting to stay up late with the Internet, because it's easy to use. So easy, few would suspect that the military originally set up this computer network to support communications in time of nuclear warfare.

The Internet is popular because it's cheap. So far there has been no cost to C.A.N.S. while I produced our Home Page. Thanks to a pre-release software evaluation program, I have had unlimited free access to the Internet for the last two months. For those that pay, the cost is small compared to what you get. You can easily find an Internet access provider for about $10 to $15 a month.

The Internet is winning the hearts of desktop publishers, because words and ideas cross the globe after only a few steps. The last month has seen an explosion of software products. They make Internet page construction as easy as order forms for coffee supplies. Well, almost that easy.

As millions of people dial in, search, connect, and publish, a distinct niche is developing for groups like gay nudists. We've had a strong presence in chat groups for a few years. Now the momentum is headed towards Internet home pages.

What's being published now usually includes an entertaining mix of text and graphics. The best part about the C.A.N.S. Home Page is the way Lane's newsletter illustrations pop up--to make our list of events a bit more fun.

No one ever doubted that the low cost, easy-to-use, entertaining Internet would be popular. Few could have predicted, however, that the number of Internet home pages would be doubling every few weeks.

A few images stand out from the middle of this information explosion. Let me mention one of my favorite home pages. It belongs to Mike from Calgary. He's a gay nudist and a self-proclaimed exhibitionist. When you first enter his home page, he presents a short bio and a photo of himself dressed to go out in the streets. I like the way Mike can be sent to the clothing optional world her prefers--with just a click of the pc mouse. And then there's Chris from Pittsburgh...and Steve from Brisbane and....Well, take my word for it, each page displays a lot of the author's personality.

And then there's the growing body of material published by organizations of gay nudists. Three foreign clubs (Toronto, Calgary, and London) took the lead in using this powerful marketing tool. Each club has presented their story in their own way. I recommend a visit to their pages soon. And let's thank each of the three clubs for providing search links to C.A.N.S. Internet site--within days after we first published on the web.

I hope the members of C.A.N.S. take pride in having our club lead in this type of communication. We look forward to seeing exactly how this affects membership inquiries and our ties to groups in other cities. This may allow us all top put information about our values into the right hands at the right time in the right way.
